All three children were born in Tasmania between 1989 and 1995. In late 1995 we flew to USA originally just to visit for a few months. But we ended up staying 5 years.

We moved to Japan in early 2000 and lived there until November 2003. These photos were taken in Japan only a few weeks before we moved back to Australia in November 2003. They are quite large so with a slow internet connection, can take quite some time to download.

We moved to Japan in April 2000 and then returned to Australia in November 2003. In those 3 1/2 years, the three kids learned to speak native-level Japanese. They went to a Japanese public school for 4 school years. There were no special programs or considerations for foreign or international students. When they speak Japanese, it sounds like the only language they know. We were very privileged and pleased to have gained this valuable experience. But we are also very happy to be back in Australia.
